As this trend continues, more and more assisted living homes will start teaching their residents how to use Facebook and other social media sites. Facebook is a prime venue for senior care residents to stay in touch with friends and family, as well as get back in touch with friends from the past. This social network makes it easy to share family pictures and stay up-to-date with the goings on of grandchildren and loved ones. It is also a primary source for seniors wanting to keep their brains engaged and active, which is made possible through a variety of social games available through Facebook. As Facebook grows in popularity among seniors, it is likely that assisted living facilities and other senior care centers will have to also keep up with the times by offering computer lounges and on-site Internet cafes. Additions like this will make many assisted living facilities more attractive, provide a new venue for social activities, and help residents feel more at home and in touch with those they hold dear.
